When pronouncing the compound finals, all you have to do is to glide your tongue from one simple vowel to the other.
Compound Finals | Example word | Chinese Character | Meanings | As in English |
| | 爱 | n.love;v.to love | like "Eye" |
| | 美 | adj. beautiful | like "Hey","Day","Bay" |
| | 澳大利亚 | n. Australia | like "Ouch!" |
| | 欧洲 | n. Europe | like"Oh" |
| | 牛 | n. cow, ox | like English letter "u" |
| | 对 | adj. correct | Start the sound from "u" and slightly make the "ei" sound |
| | 谢谢 | Thank you | like "yes" |
| | 月亮 | n. the moon | Glide from ütoê |
| | 耳朵 | n. ears | Roll up your tongue and keep it in the middle position of your mouth. |
Note:
When ü has no initial before it, y is used before ü and two dots on it shoud be removed.
